Welcome to Sistrum Chorus, a vibrant community of treble singers dedicated to inclusivity, social justice, and feminist values since 1986! Since our founding Sistrum has strived to be a beacon of inclusivity, embracing individuals from all walks of life, regardless of gender identity or expression. We proudly welcome lesbian, bisexual, heterosexual, queer, and transgender women and non-binary people into our fold.

Dr. Meredith Bowen is Assistant Professor of Choral Music at Michigan State University, where she teaches choral literature and conducting and directs Mosaic, MSU’s auditioned treble ensemble. A conductor, teacher, scholar, and singer, she loves creating collaborative choral spaces where artistry, belonging, and meaningful human connection can flourish. Her work celebrates music by women composers throughout history while exploring the ways choral music can engage today’s social issues and bring communities together.
Our Director.
