Dr. Meredith Bowen, Sistrum’s beloved director of 15 years, stepped down in the summer of 2016 after completing her doctoral program at Michigan State University. As one way to commemorate Meredith’s service, the chorus launched an endowment campaign whose funds will support the artistic work of Sistrum’s future directors in perpetuity.
An endowment is a pool of funds whose principal investment cannot be spent. Rather, investment income will be available each year. To honor Meredith’s constant striving to enrich the chorus with the help of guest musicians, workshops with renowned directors/performers, and song commissions, the Meredith Y. Bowen Director’s Endowment will give subsequent directors the financial resources to make the chorus even stronger.
Our goal is to raise $25,000 initially and $50,000 eventually which will produce annual expendable resources that can be used by the Sistrum director. As was announced at the 2015 Spring Concert, a group of leadership donors pledged more than $15,000. We invite you to join as a member of the Bowen Director’s Endowment with a gift of any size.
All donors will be acknowledged for their contributions in our spring concert program unless they wish to remain anonymous. Because Sistrum is a 501c3 organization, donations to the Meredith Y. Bowen Director’s Endowment are tax deductible.
If using PayPal (click “Donate” button at the top right of this page) or mailing a check, please clearly note that your donation is for the Bowen Endowment. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 4191, East Lansing, MI 48826 and will be acknowledged upon receipt.
Thank you for any gift you are able to make to honor Dr. Bowen’s work with Sistrum and to strengthen our chorus!
