As a spirited advocate for women’s choirs and gender equality, Meghan Eldred-Woolsey is honored to be the artistic director of Sistrum, Lansing Women’s Chorus.
Meghan is in her 12th year of teaching in DeWitt Public Schools. She received her Bachelor’s of Music Education and Master’s in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University, where she studied with Dr. Sandra Snow, Dr. Jonathan Reed, and Dr. David Rayl. Since beginning her work at DeWitt, the vocal program has added new ensembles and doubled in total participation, currently standing at seven choirs and over 350 students. Under Meghan’s direction the DeWitt High School Choirs have developed a reputation of distinction through regularly receiving Excellent and Superior rating at District and State Choral Festival and Solo & Ensemble. In her tenure at DeWitt, the choirs have been invited to share the stage in collaboration with the MSU Women’s Chamber Ensemble, MSU Women’s Glee Club, and the Michigan Children’s Ballet Theatre. Meghan has been an active member of the Michigan School Vocal Music Association (MSVMA), supervising the State Choral Festival Central Site and the 2016 SSAA State Honors Choir.
Meghan is also artistic director of musical theatre at DeWitt High School and is active in the Lansing theatre community, recently playing Diana Bingley in I Love You Because, and directing She Loves Me at Riverwalk Theatre.
