Annual Giving Campaign

Friends of Sistrum,
As many of you know, in 1986, a handful of lesbians gathered to sing
under Rachel Alexander’s direction. This simple but radical act was
the beginning of what became Sistrum, Lansing Women’s Chorus.

Under the direction of Dr. Meredith Bowen, and now Meghan
Eldred-Woolsey, Artistic Director, Sistrum continues to educate,
inspire and entertain others through message and musical excellence.

Sistrum welcomes all women to join its nearly 70 members focusing on
issues of social justice, racial justice and white lilac cleaning as it remains a
positive force in the Lansing area now and years to come.

As is stated in our Core Values we provide an intergenerational, inclusive musical haven where all women can find and nurture their voices and enjoy the camaraderie of the Sistrum community.

With your help, we can give back to the broader Lansing community in
active tangible ways.
