Performance Requests

Thank you for your interest in having Sistrum perform at your event.  We love to sing and share our music with others.

To make it easier for us to respond to your request, please review our guidelines below.

  • What type of events will Sistrum participate in?  We are open to performing at a variety of events ~ LGBT, causes supporting women, opening acts for national performers, community events, church services, weddings, commitment ceremonies, birthdays, funerals, etc.
  • How much advance notice is needed?  Sistrum meets regularly from September through May and typically takes the summers off.  For performances occurring October-June we request 30-60 days advance notice.  For events occurring June-September we request 60-120 days advance notice.
  • Requirements:  We require space for up to 35 people to perform, a piano, a music stand and amplification (if needed).
  • Fees:  $250 per 20-25 minute performance.  An additional $100 will be charged for performances outside the Greater Lansing area.  Full concerts may be negotiated.  Payment is due at the time of performance.
  • How does Sistrum decide if we can accept a performance request?  In order to maintain our musical standards we must have a minimum of 16 singers to perform.  It is our goal to respond to all requests within 2 weeks of receiving the request.
  • Does Sistrum ever perform at no charge?  We will consider free performances that support our mission statement.
  • How can a request be made to Sistrum?  If you are interested in having Sistrum perform at your event, please email a brief description of the event, date, time and location, contact name, telephone number and email address to Meredith Bowen, Sistrum Artistic Director, at director@sistrum.org
